Sparkly Sequins

As the festive season approaches I have decided to find my favourite sparkly items as this screams Christmas and parties!! Here I have chosen 3 of my favourite sequinned dresses and shoes...
First up is this dress from Lipsy, normally I don't like Lipsy clothing as I think the majority of it it quite slutty but I really like this dress, the detailing with the sequins gives it something extra and makes it look a lot more expensive, I would expect this at £120, unfortunately a lot of people must agree with me as this dress is already sold out!!

Next is this little red number from Rare, which is sold on Asos and Topshop for £75, I think this dress is just really cute, with the little bow and if it was a little bit longer would probably have been my 21st dress!!

This stunning dress is from Rare Opulence at Topshop, it's very expensive at £175 but I think the details with the chiffon and the train are just beautiful!! It's really something different and when you think about what you would pay for a designer dress, £175 doesn't seem so bad!

On to the shoes, Schuh have these super high glitter heels that also come in black, these are just wow statement shoes that aren't for the faint hearted! Priced at £65, they aren't bad for a pair of shoes but if you are just going to wear them for the Christmas season, similar pairs can be found in cheaper places like Primark and New Look.

These black shoe boots are from Love Label at Very and are a bargain at 36! A little bit more wearable than towering high heels, you might actually last all night in these beauties!
Finally, the most expensive pair of shoes at £80 are these gorgeous gold glittery heels from Aldo. Sequins and glitter can sometimes look a little tacky but the little ankle strap and bow helps to tone them down, so cute!

Versace for H&M

I was a bit scared looking at the new Versace collection for H&M, a lot of the pieces are extremely loud with enormous fluorescent patterns on them: this is not a collection for the faint hearted, the last image of the horrid pink fridged set is probably the worst thing I have ever seen :S. As I look at more pictures of the collection I am pleasantly surprised as there are a selection of pieces that are much more classic and wearable in my opinion. My favourite piece has to be the little black dress, I'm actually gutted this collection doesn't come out till the 17th November as I need this dress for my birthday on Saturday as it is pretty much what I have been looking for! gutted :(. The lilac dress is also really cute but I can't help feeling it's an odd colour for an A/W collection. The same goes for the neon pink dress below it, the detailing on the dress is amazing but I can see it being worn at a summer wedding not at a Christmas party. The studded black skirt is great, just the right amount of detailing to make it unique without being over the top. Again, the black corset is AMAZING, I absolutely love the structure in it and the little bit of colour just add something a little extra.

Alexander McQueen

Just having a look at the new Alexander McQueen collection for Spring/Summer 2012 and I really like it! Sarah Burton still keeps that kooky, innovative vibe with the face coverings and the intricate detailing on the garments but quite a few of the evening dresses could be worn to an event without looking too gaga. I really admire the way her designs always look like something new and something  I've not seen before.

Oscars

Here's my verdict on the best dressed from last night's Oscars. First up is Halle Berry in Marchesa, this dress is so simple but so elegant, less is definitely more. Hilary Swank wore this beautiful Gucci gown, again extremely subtle with the tiny feather details. There couldn't be a red carpet without an appearance from Elie Saab (one of my favourite designers), Mila Kunis wore one of his dresses and looks stunning, I don't think you can actually go wrong with Elie Saab. Also, just as a little extra, I want to mention how nice I think Russell Brand's mum; Barbara, looks. It just shows you don't have to show a lot of skin to look good!

Golden Globes

3 posts in 2 days! I am good to you! :P Anyways, here is my verdict on the best and worst dressed of the Golden Globes 2011. First off, Dianna Agron (yes, I am a Gleek) in this stunning J. Mendel dress, I always think less is definitely more and this outfit just proves it! There has been a lot of discussion about Sanda Bullock's new hair do, but I personally really like it, I think it makes her look younger, and her dress by Jenny Packham (a safe move as she makes beautiful dresses!) is really nice, a bit of sparkle but not too much that she looks like she is trying too hard. Next up, Eva Longoria, who in my opinion always looks classy, and continues to in this Zac Posen gown, I especially love the neckline, (as me and my flatmate were saying we like necklines like this! :D) Now on to the not so good ones, January Jones what ever possessed you to wear this dress, for me there's just too many cut out section and her boobs look like they will break free at any moment: not a good look. I know it is Versace but just because it's designer doesn't mean its nice! And for the absolute worst dressed of the night is Tilda Swinton in this Jonathan Saunders creation, for me it was the wrong piece to pick from the collection, Drew Barrymore wore a JS dress not too long ago and looked quite nice in it. For me the skirt looks like its not fully finished and they didn't have time to make a top so sent her out in one of her own shirts, it just looks very odd to me!

New Look - £16.99

Warehouse - £65

Topshop - £7.50

Another big trend that I have seen a lot on recently on the high street is birds! Here are a few pieces I have seen, although this is something I don't think I would buy into I can see it being quite popular, especially, the jewellery as I think it is a cheap way to update an outfit :D

2011!!!

This is my first blog of 2011 and I promise you I will try to post at least once a week (hopefully). As the stores start to get new items in for spring/summer (very exciting!) I have chosen a few of my favourite items and trends that I think will be massive! The main trend that has been on all the catwalks is 70's Style, yes lots of flared denims, tan accessories and boho. I have chosen a few items that I think fit this trend really well! (and of course are super duper nice! :D) The first item I came across was this beautiful pair of tan Topshop wedges, I just think they are beautiful, although they are £65 and will be way too high for a tally like me, they would definitely fit in nicely with the 70's theme, plus the fact that tan goes with anything! The second item is this floral print blouse from New Look at only £19.99, I just think it's really pretty and not only does it fit in with the 70's trend but also the trend for blouses. Even just with a pair of jeans I think a blouse makes a sophisticated outfit! And to finish, this cool jumpsuit from Warehouse priced at £55, I know it's a little bit kooky and takes a certain type of person to pull it off but I do quite like it and they are a simple way to look on-trend. :D
